1. The solar Farm will dominate the landscape having significant effects on the visual appearance of the landscape. It will occupy 200 acres in the Charnwood Forest, an area of archaeological importance, ruining views and the character of Beacon Country Park (a major visitor attraction).

It is in full view of the Beacon Country Park and Charley Lodge, owned by Leicestershire and Rutland Wild Life Trust

The site can never be screened. North West Leicestershire District Council’s Local Plan states: that there should be no unacceptable impact on residential amenity in terms of VISUAL DOMINANCE

The layout of the panels dominate the landscape.

Longcliffe Lodge Farm is a listed building situated on the opposite side of the road to the Solar Farm, together with Tudor Cottage, and Charnwood Farm. It can be clearly seen from Whittle Hill Farm House, and Charley Chapel.
2. This is Grade 3 agricultural land and as such should remain for agricultural use only.
3. The site of the proposed Solar Farm is highly sensitive due to its location on Charley Knoll, a volcanic hill, which is 184 meters above sea level in the Charnwood Forest and will have significant effects on the visual appearance of the landscape. As the solar panels would be highly visible on sloping fields in the landscape this further breaches planning policies
Charnwood Borough Council recognise that that the visual impact of this proposal is likely to have significant effects on the visual appearance of the landscape and may have effects on the environment of Charnwood Forest Landscape Character Area. This is stated in the Screening Report.

The area is set out Charnwood Borough Council’s Written Statement on Wind and Solar PV Energy Landscape Sensitivity Assessment 2019 (WSPVELSA) in Appendix 2 as an area where the siting of solar farms should be avoided. The photograph in the WSPVELSA above depicts the view on page 67 which looks over towards the proposed site. The Policy continues to states that ‘Long panoramic views are possible from numerous pars of the area’. The proposed site will ruin a long panoramic view which must be protected for future generations.

The policy states:
- AVOID locating solar PV development in locations with sloping/complex landforms or in locations which are visually prominent within the wider landscape.
- AVOID placement of solar PV development on sloping fields that are highly visible within the wide landscape.
It is situated within an SSSI Impact Risk Zone
4. The biodiversity will be destroyed for years to come and will never be capable of being returned to its original use or condition
5.There will be a major and unacceptable Compounding Effect with other solar farms in the area
6. The panel layout severely impacts the amenities of neighbouring properties as the panels are planned on a highly visible sloping/ complex landscape. The site is not capable of being screened, in particular Whittle Hill Farm House and Longcliffe Farm, a Grade II listed building, on Ingleberry Road.
